CBI Head: Wainwright.
FBI Agent: Darcy
FBI Agent1: Smith
FBI Agent2: Mancini
Police/Officer: Yanick
Victim: Callie  Larsen  / Rex Lango

Previously on The Mentalist:
[Scene : Previously]
Lorelei: Hey, Patrick.
         Lorelei.
--
Lorelei: Perhaps we can see each other again.
--
Lorelei: I do what Red John tells me to do.
         Accept his friendship.
Jane:  It's that easy?
Lorelei: Sure.
And you'll need to bring him a gift.
Jane:  What gift?
Lorelei:  Teresa Lisbon's dead body would be the perfect thing.
Jane:  Heh.

[Scene: In CBI Office]
Jane: Good luck, Teresa.
    Love you.
FBI Agent: Well, the question remains, why did Jane do this?
   - Orders from Red John?
CBI Head:  I don't know.
FBI Agent:  I want arrest warrants for every member of that CBI team, dead or alive.

[Scene: In Desert - Crime Scene]
FBI: FBI, nobody move!
CBI: CBI. Don't shoot, we're CBI agents!
Lisbon: You're making a terrible mistake.

Lorelei: That the gift?
Jane:  Red John in there?
Lorelei:  Mm-hm.

Jane:  Our fake deaths were a ruse to trap Red John.
     It worked.

[Scene: Red John's Voice]
Red John: What if you and I were friends?
              Imagine the life we'd lead.
Jane: Go to hell.

[CBI Office - Fishbowl심문실]
Jane:  You're gonna break down and tell us everything about Red John.
You're gonna sing like a bird.
Lorelei: No, lover. I won't.
Jane:  Yes, you will.
    Yes, you will.

--------------------
[CBI Office - Fishbowl-검사]
Lisbon:  We're up.
Jane:  What?
Lisbon:   We have a case.
Jane: Now?
Lisbon:  You can't talk to her yet anyhow.
     The FBI won't let you.
Jane: I'll be right there.

[Crime Scene]
Police: You can't leave your car there.
         Hey.
Lisbon: Hey, boys.
    You the responding officer?
The responding officer(Police2): - Uh, yes, ma'am. (I'm Yannick)
Lisbon: What have we got?
Yannick: A 911 call came in from this location, 7:33 p.
     Mm but, uh, nobody spoke.
Door was unlocked and, uh, this is how I found them.
This is Rex Lango and, uh, Callie Karlsen.
They both worked together at the hotel convention center.
    This is her place.
Rigsby: So the door was already open?
Yannick:  Yes, sir. I figure the marks and bruising on the neck indicate strangulation
and, uh, he got clubbed with a bottle.
Jane: Yes. Nice analysis there, Yannick.
Rigsby: Couldn't have killed each other?
Cho:  Unlikely. She'd have to be conscious and active to hit him.
Check the lipstick on his cheek.
Rigsby: It's a classic love triangle.
Third wheel comes in, finds these two kissing.
Whacks the rival with the bubbly, chokes Jezebel.
Yannick:  Yeah, that's pretty much what l Figured.
Jane:   Yeah.
Yannick:   Ahem.
Lisbon:  Jane? Thoughts?
Jane: Well, the champagne is an excellent vintage.
Callie didn't have a steady boyfriend.
     No spare toothbrush.
She believes, poor soul, in a benevolent universe.
And she, uh, comes from money.

Rigsby:  Hmm. Money? She works in a hotel.
Jane: I've seen enough.
Lisbon:  We're out of here, let Forensics do their job.
Yannick: So, uh, if you need me, you know where to find me.
Lisbon: Thank you, Officer Yannick.
Yannick:  My pleasure.

[Scene: Outside of Crime Scene)
FBI Agent1: What are you guys doing here?
Cho: What are you doing here?
FBI Agent2(Menchiny)Hey, Teresa.
You're all under suspension, aren't you?
Lisbon: We were told to cover your calls.
Yannick:  Suspension? What?
      Who are you guys?
FBI Agent2:  FBI. Walk away.
Lisbon: You didn't hear? Suspension's been lifted.
     Brass made a deal.
FBI Agent1: Yeah, we heard they were talking.
They put a lid on the whole thing.
Jane: Business as usual.  Suspensions lifted.
Cho: So you guys don't need to be here.
Lisbon:  I'm sorry for the mix-up.
FBI Agent1:  You tell me after the monumental crapstorm you guys created
they're just gonna let you walk away?
     I'm stunned, frankly.
Lisbon:  Understand.
FBI Agent1:   I mean, you destroyed the career of a fine FBI agent.
You caused the death of your own boss.
And this one? Has got assault, narcotics, and fraud charges against him.
Jane: All dismissed. Part of the deal.
     Phew.
 FBI Agent2:  Heh.
   - How did you get such a sweet deal?
Jane: Uh, we got a deal because it was the FBI that messed up not me
   or the CBI, the FBI.
Cho:  That's right.
FBI Agent1:  That's incorrect.
Jane:   Oh, touche.
We were this close to catching Red John, you blew it.
Despite your interference, we caught Lorelei Martins
 - She's our suspect and we want her back.
FBI Agent:   You're not getting her.

Jane: Oh, we'll see about that.
Cho: We'll see.
FBI Agent 2:   We'll see?
Jane:  Your inarticulate rage is understandable, but it's misplaced.
- You should probably just calm down.
- You calm yourself down.
FBI Agen 2:  I'm not angry.
Jane:  No? Your temples are pulsing like some weird undersea creature.
    - That's not anger, you should see a doctor.
Lisbon: Jane, stop.
Jane:  Okay, I'm going.
     Nice to see you.
     Watch this one.
    He's a hothead.
Lisbon: Sorry, he does that.
FBI Agen 2: I'm not angry.
Lisbon:  I believe you.
FBI Agen 2: I just think you people should be in jail, not working cases.
Cho: We're not in jail, we're here.
Keep moving. Or else what?
FBI Agen 1: You're gonna make us move?
Cho:  If you like.
FBI Agen 1:  Ha, ha.
Cho:  Yeah, go ahead, make me move.
Lisbon: That's enough.
    You're both being childish.
FBI Agen 1:  Take your hands off me!
Cho:   Hey! Hey!
FBI Agen 1:  Come on.  Get your hands off me.
Lisbon: Hey! Break it up.
     Hey, hey, hey.

Jane:  Sorry.
   - That's it!
   - Come on, break it up.
   - I'll see you back at the office.

FBI Agen 1:  Knock it off! Come on.
Cho: That's it.
FBI Agen 1: - Get off me.

[Butram's Office]
Lisbon: What you doing?
Jane:  Welcome back.
Butram:  Thank you so much.
I could not be less happy to be back.
Uh I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for, uh, fixing things.
Jane: Yes, sir.
We - You know, I thought I had as you say, fixed things.
Buttram:  And now I discover that you and your FBI counterparts have been fighting?
   - At a crime scene?
Lisbon:    Sir If I can persuade the FBI to forget this latest incident you,
Jane, are down to your very last chance.
You're granted this chance because to get rid of you would be evidence of
the scandal we are trying so hard to conceal.
Jane: Looking on the bright side, we have Lorelei Martins.
She can lead us to Red John. She knows who he is.
California's most notorious serial killer, caught on your watch.
Well, that remains to be seen.
Butram: But until I negotiate an arrangement with the feds, you cannot talk to her.
     - That's the deal.
Jane:  I understand.
Here's the thing, the FBI can't have her.
Butram:  In a half an hour, I have a press conference to lie to the people of California
   in order to protect you.
- And you are arguing with me now?
 - They can't have her.
- I will do my best to keep her.
    But you
Jane:  I promise, no more trouble from me.
    - I won't say a word at
Buttram: Damn right you won't say a word because you won't be there.

Butram:  Agent Schultz.  Alexa, ha, ha, hi.
We still have a deal, right?
Alexa:  I'd rather eat spiders, but yeah, we have a deal.
Butram: Good, good.
Alexa:  You look fabulous, by the way.
Butram: Camera-ready. Is my tie straight?
Alexa:   You understand, Gale, this matter doesn't end here.
Butram:  You have to give us Lorelei Martins or there'll be consequences down the line.
Alexa:  Consequences for whom?
Butram: It was your agents that killed the best chance yet of catching Red John.
Alexa: It was your agent that killed Wainwright.
- A tragic outcome in a deadly-force situation.
   Agent Darcy is devastated.
She's had a nervous collapse, in fact.
    Your people committed deliberate crimes.
Butram: Well, that's debatable.
Look, we have agreed to a cover-up.
     That's the deal.
If you're saying now that you'll dig this all up again unless I do your bidding,
     then no deal.
Alexa: No, let's tell the truth right now.

Buttram: An FBI agent shot and killed a CBI agent in the midst of a botched operation.
There will be a huge scandal, we'll probably lose our jobs but I'm sure we'll both
     feel better for it.
Alexa: Son of a bitch.

[Scene : Press Conference]
Alexa:  I am very proud to tell you that last week in a joint FBl/CBI sting operation of
great complexity and danger Lorelei Martins, a close associate of notorious serial          killer Red John was arrested.
Tragically, in the course of that operation CBI Special Agent In Charge Luther                Wainwright was shot and killed.
    Gale?

Buttram: Luther Wainwright was a good friend, a valued colleague and we all mourn
     his passing deeply.
     He's a hero.
As part of the operation, one of our operatives, Patrick Jane had criminal charges            fabricated against him in order to go undercover.
Now, we apologize to the public for that deception.
The story is of the great job done by these teams of consummate professionals,
      working together in harmony.
       Questions?

News Man1(Black): This working-in-harmony business is very hard to believe.
There's a very long public history of disharmony between your two bureaus.
Buttram:  That's why they call it history, Josh.
      It's in the past.
Alexa: Exactly.
What we're celebrating is the dawn of a new era.
Just this morning, these teams began work on another case together.
A double murder in Dupont Gardens.
Best of luck on that one, guys.
    Go get them.
Let's call it a truce, shall we, guys? I mean, we're all grown-ups here.
FBI: Yeah, sure.
CBI: Yeah.

[Scene: Hotel]
FBI Agent1:  Nice place.
Lisbon: It is.

[Scene: On Escalator]
Lisbon: This is like a bad date.
I wish these bozos would just vanish.
Hotel Manager: Wow, four cops.
FBI: Heh.
Hotel Manager: Must be a red ball, huh?
Lisbon: A red ball?
Hotel Manager: That's what you guys call an urgent case? All murder cases are urgent.
Lisbon: Yes, of course.
Hotel Manager: Ugh. I would never imply otherwise.
Lisbon: What can you tell us about Callie and Rex?
Hotel Manager:Um, Callie has been with us two years as a housekeeper.
   Reliable, always upbeat.
    Really, just a lovely girl.
   Well, woman, that is.
Uh, Rex Lango, I don't know so well.
He's only been here a couple weeks and, uh, works over in Tech Support.
But he seems like, you know, a good fellow.
    Punctual.
Lisbon: Were they friends? Lovers?
Hotel Manager(Mr.Norris):Uh, well, I wouldn't know.
Uh, you know, you should check with their workmates.

Lisbon:  You and Callie were close?
Colleague: Yes, me and Callie were friends.
She was such a good, kind person.
    Poor thing.
    Oh, my God.
Lisbon:   Did she have any boyfriend trouble?
Colleague: Uh-uh. Men were asking her out, but she would always say no.
Lisbon: Was anybody bothering her?
Colleague: Not that she told me.
Lisbon: What was her relationship with Rex Lango?
Colleague:  None, I don't think.
Jane: Hmm. What about Mr.Norris?
Did he have a thing for Callie?
Colleague: You think Mr.Norris? He would ogle her, but he did that to all the women.
Ogle them, and, you know, cop a feel sometimes.
He always asks people out, but nobody says yes
because he had a girlfriend once here and they broke up, and
he fired her butt so fast.
Lisbon: You think he did this?
Jane:  Did you get anything useful?
FBI: Nope. You?
Jane:  Nope.
Lisbon: Be right back.
Jane:  No, nothing useful.
    Uh, excuse me.
Mr.Norris.Thank you so much for your help.
I just have a couple more questions before we go.
Um How many employees are you responsible for here at the hotel?
Mr.Norris: I supervise 210 employees.
Jane:   Wow, that is a lot.
Have you ever seen your mother naked?
Mr.Norris:   What? - No!
Jane:   We'll leave that alone for a moment.
Let me ask you this: Have you ever looked at Callie Karlsen in a sexual way?
Mr.Norris:No.
I mean, you know, she's an attractive woman.
Mr.Norris: Sure. I didn't look away.
Jane:  So, yes, you looked at her sexually.
     Have you touched her?
Mr.Norris: No.
Jane:  Why are you shielding your right side?
    Are you hiding something?
Mr.Norris: I'm not hiding anything.
Jane:  Something. Your inside jacket pocket is making you nervous.
Mr.Norris:  No.
Jane:  What you have in there?
Mr.Norris:  Nothing. Oh, okay, a wallet.
Jane:  Why are you wanting to hide your wallet?
Mr.Norris: I don't. It's just a wallet.

Jane:  Hey, you can't do that.
FBI:    It's a gray area.
Mr.Norris:   Okay, there's nothing in there.
Jane: Well, lookie here.  Callie Karlsen.
FBI:  That's our girl, isn't it?
      Couldn't resist a souvenir, huh?
Mr.Norris:  Okay, I have never seen that before in my life.
Jane: Really, has this wallet been out of your possession recently?
Mr.Norris:  Ugh, no, but I have never seen that before.
     I swear to God.
Jane: I tell you what, Mr.Norris, let's talk some more downtown.
FBI:  See if we can solve this mystery.
Mr.Norris:  No, no.
Jane: I have got a hotel to run.
Mr.Norris:  I cannot
FBI:   Wait a second.
Jane:  He's our suspect.
FBI:  Looks like he's ours to me.
Jane:  No, no, that's not fair.
FBI:  Fair? What are you, 7 years old?
FBI2:  Fair.Tell you what.
Give us Lorelei Martins, we'll give you this guy.
      That's fair.
       No?
Jane: Okay, bye-bye.
Lisbon:  Bastards.
Jane:  Hey, no need to be so grumpy, you got your wish.
You wanted them to vanish, they vanished.
Lisbon: What is so funny? They took our suspect.
Jane:  No, they took their suspect.
Lisbon:  Norris isn't our man?
Jane:  Small hands, addicted to routine.
No way a man like that strangles a woman on impulse.
Lisbon: But the photos
Jane:  Planted.
I took them from Callie's apartment for such an occasion.
Lisbon: You know full well that is illegal in 20 different ways.
   - What about your promise?
Jane:  I had my fingers crossed.
Didn't you wish for Mancini and Smith to just disappear?
Well, voila, your wish was granted.
    Like magic.
We can focus on catching the real killer while the FBI's dealing with Norris.
Lisbon: That is not the point.
We're supposed to be rebuilding our relationship with the FBI.
   - Rebuilding trust.
   - Trust is not an option.
Jane: Red John has a friend inside the FBI.
If they get hold of Lorelei, she will die or escape.
Lisbon:  God, here we go.
     How do you know that?
Jane: Red John told me.
Lisbon:  Well, he was lying, of course, to muddy the waters.
   - Why would he tell you the truth?
Jane: Because he knows we'll assume he's lying.
And he knows we'd begin to suspect the truth anyway.
It's a double bluff to conceal his friend.
Lisbon: Or he's lying, has no friend in the FBI.
Jane: Why are you so determined to believe that?
Lisbon: I would like to feel solid ground under my feet.
I want to trust somebody or something.
You, with your wheels within wheels You're driving me nuts.

[Scene: CBI Office]
Garace:  Hey, boss.
Lisbon:  Hey, Grace.
   - Where are we on Karlsen and Lango?
Grace:  Looked at phone records.
No calls in or out for Lango that evening.
Callie Karlsen called Nicola Karlsen at 7:15,
18 minutes before the 911 call.
Cho: Hey, boss. Where's the FBI? -
Lisbon: They're pursuing other inquiries.
Rigsby: Sweet.
Lisbon: Listen to me.
The FBI is a fine organization, and they are our partners.
We need to work with them.
    They deserve respect and trust.
    Am I clear?
CBI team: - Yeah.
Lisbon:  Did you contact the sister?
Grace:  Yes. She lives out in Boone.
She was out of contact for two days, at a swap meet.
   Got home this morning.
Local sheriff gave her the news.
Lisbon:  What's their story?
Grace:  The Karlsen family used to own half of Alameda County.
Lost it all in the crash of '06.
Parents died a year later, highway collision.
Nicola is the older sister, single mom, two kids.
Jewelry designer on her IRS forms.
Lisbon: What about Lango?
Grace:  Moved to town from L.A.
Six months ago. No rap sheet.
    No relatives nearby.
   We went to his apartment.
    Nothing.
    Bare.
    Mattress on the floor.
Lisbon: Running from something?
Grace: Keep digging on Lango.
     Sounds promising.
Lisbon: Jane and I will go talk to the sister.
You two go canvass the crime scene like you should have instead of fighting with
   the FBI.
Rigsby:  Yes, boss.
Cho:  Yes, boss.

[Scene: Near by Crime Scene]
Rigsby: Hey, Yannick.
Yannick: Agents.
Rigsby: Thanks for your help.
Yannick: No problemo.
    Just don't hit me, okay?
Cho:  Funny.
Yannick: Hey, no offense, but I never saw that before.
Law enforcement agents fighting it out in the street.
Heh, you guys are hardcore, man.
Cho: Yeah.
Yannick: Uh, so anyway, I started canvassing already.
- Nothing useful so far.
- Let's check out the rest of them.
Rigsby: All right, thanks for your time.
Yannick:  Appreciate it.

[Scene: Neighbor's house]
Neighbor(Old black woman]: Saw a young fella over there.
Same one they've been showing on the TV, got beat to death.
Cho: And you saw just one man? Rex Lango?
Neighbor: Yes, sir. Knocking on her door about 6:30.
We were sitting out in the sun, then we came inside.
Cho: Did you ever see him around here before?
Neighbor: No, first time.
   She didn't have visitors much.
Then later we heard a scream from over that way.
Just a little short one, like a, "Aah!"
Cho: And you weren't concerned?
Neighbor: No.
At the time, I thought it was, you know, passion.
I said to Bucky, "Good for her. That Karlsen girl got a boyfriend at last."
Cho:  What time was this?
Neighbor:  I know what time it was, we were checking our lottery tickets on TV.
     It was 10 past 7.
Here's me thinking her luck had changed, when really she was dying.
     Poor girl.

I'll be right back.

[Scene : CBI Office]
Nicola: Hello.
Grace: Nicola Larsen? Hi.

[Scene: Sister's house]
Nicola:  Um, you must be the CBI.
Lisbon: We're very sorry for your loss.
Nicola:  Uh, girls? Could you maybe take the boys to your place, watch some TV
    or something? Sure.
Girls :  Come on, guys.
    Let's go.
Nicola:  I was at a crafts fair in the Sierras.
The hippie geniuses in charge picked a place with great vibes and no cell phone         reception, so I didn't get this message.

Nic's Sister's message: Nic! Call me soon as you can!
Nicola:  I didn't get that call till last night when I came home.
And I called her and called and called and then the sheriff came by this morning.
Lisbon:  Nicola, tell us about your sister.
To be honest, we haven't found a motive yet.
Nicola: No one would want to hurt Callie.
She was a warm, happy spirit.
    Everybody loved her.
Lisbon:  She have any failed relationships in her past?
Nicola: No.
Lisbon:  What about feuds with neighbors or financial disputes?
Somebody who felt burned when your family's business went under?
Nicola:  We paid off all the debts. All of them.
That's why I'm here doing this.
And Callie was cleaning rooms instead of going to college.
Jane: Well, you make some beautiful things here.
Nicola:   Thank you.
Lisbon: Do you know Rex Lango?
Nicola:  Is that the man who died with her? No.
I've never heard the name before.
Lisbon: It seems that, uh, Callie and Rex were about to drink a very nice
    vintage champagne.
Nicola:  At least.
That was the last from my Dad's cellar.
No way Callie took it out of the fridge.
She'd been saving that bottle for years for a special occasion.
    Like a talisman.
Lisbon: She would have told you if there was a relationship brewing with her and Lango.
Nicola:  Yes. Absolutely.
    We're very close.
Callie was not interested in finding a man.
She wanted to go to college first and get her career going.
Jane: And what kind of career did she want?
Nicola: She had all kinds of big hopes.
She was the optimist of the two of us.
She always said our luck was going to turn somehow.
I always said, don't hold your breath.
Jane: Oh.  Sorry. Excuse me. I have to take this.
     Hello?
Buttram: (In call) Good news, Jane.
The FBI folded on Lorelei Martins.
    She's all yours.
Jane: Folded? That's not like them.
Buttram: (In call) You want her or not?
Jane: Yes.  I'm on my way.
Uh, we need to go soon.
Lisbon: That's all for now, Nicola.
Nicola: But I want you to know we're gonna do everything to bring whoever did this
   to justice.
Lisbon: Yes, we sure will.
Nicola:  I don't really care who did this.
Justice for them won't help Callie or me.
Jane: That was rude, I'm sorry.
Nicola: It's your job, I'm sure you do it well.
     No apology needed.
Lisbon:  You make a very valid point.
Jane: Can I ask you, how much is this particular one?

[Scene: In Car]
Lisbon: What are you thinking?
Jane: She's ready to crack.
Lisbon: Nicola?
Jane:  Lorelei.
Lisbon: I meant what are you thinking of the case we're working on now?
     Well, that one's a puzzler, isn't it?
What the hell is the motive?
I don't think it was the sister.
Jane: I liked her.
Lisbon: So you bought that bracelet for Lorelei?
Jane: No, just a whim.
    I liked it.

[CBI Office]
Jane: When I talk to her, I need to be alone.
Lisbon: You will be.
Jane: I mean with nobody watching or listening.
I need to be able to tell her truthfully that we are alone.
Lisbon: Okay.
Jane:  Thank you.
Lisbon: Just be careful.
Don't get pulled into her game.
Jane:  Well, what game is that?
Lisbon: I don't know.
Jane:  You tell me.
Lisbon: I'm supposed to tell you a game that you're thinking of?
Jane: Okay.
Uh, you are thinking of, uh, Twister.
   Go ahead, laugh.
Lisbon:  But she's practically the first person since your wife that you've, you know Oh.
It wouldn't be surprising if you had feelings for her.
Jane:  She's a stepping stone to Red John.
I knew that from the beginning.
I don't have any feelings for her.

[Scene : Fishbowl]
Lorelei: Hello, Patrick.
Jane: Lorelei.
Lorelei:  Is it just us?
     Or are your friends listening?
Jane: It's just us.
    We're alone.
Lorelei: Good.
    It's much nicer that way.

Jane: Sorry I didn't come visit you sooner.
I've been real busy with a case.
Lorelei: That's okay.
I've been enjoying the peace and quiet.
Jane: Is there anything you need?
Lorelei:  I'm fine.
    Never mind about me.
    How are you?
    Back to solving crimes, huh?
Jane: Yeah.
   Hmm.

Lorelei: Why do you bother?
You're trying to hold back the tide with a broom.
    What good are you doing?
I think you do it to be close to Teresa Lisbon.
I think you're a little bit in love with her.

Jane:   I do it to, uh pass the time.
      What good are you doing?
Lorelei:   Not much in here.
But I'll be out soon enough.
How and when is up to Red John.
Jane:   You think he'll get you out of this?
     He'll kill you.
     It's easier.
Lorelei:  That's okay.
     If that's what he wants.
Jane:  You're that far under his control?
Lorelei: He'll kill you as well, if that's what he wants.
You just can't accept the fact.
Jane: I can make you a better offer.
      No killing.
I can get you out of here now.
      Today if you want.
I get you money, a new identity, set you up with a new life far away from here.
Lorelei: You can do that?
Jane:  Yes, I can.
I can do anything you want if you give me Red John.
Lorelei: I want your trust and friendship.
Jane:  You have that.
Lorelei: I don't believe you.
Jane: How can I make you believe?
Lorelei: Kiss me.
Jane: What does that prove?
Lorelei: First you say you'll do anything I want, then you refuse the first thing I ask for.
Jane: You're very complicated.
Let me get you out of here.
Lorelei: I need time to think.
     Not for long.
Jane:  I don't know how much longer we're gonna get to keep you here.
    We'll talk again this evening.

[Scene: Lisbon's Office]
Lisbon:  What are you, huh?
     Crazy?
Jane:  Excuse me? I told you to be careful.
Lisbon:  I told you not to go over the edge.
Jane:  I told you not to listen.
Lisbon:  Don't be childish.
I am not your girlfriend, I am an officer of the law.
How could I not listen? You kissed her.
You offered to help her escape.
Jane: And I would ask her to marry me if I thought she'd buy it.
     I was playing her.
Lisbon:  She's playing you.
Jane: We should have given her to the feds.
Grace: Um, ME sent his report on Callie and Rex.
It's not possible they killed each other.
Callie had a small white feather lodged in the back of her mouth.
Jane: A feather, huh? Like from a pillow?
Grace: Right.
Which suggests Callie was strangled by hand and suffocated with a pillow.
     Probably in that order.
Lisbon: Why two methods?
     Two different people?
Or the killer wasn't strong enough to strangle.
Grace: Right.
Lisbon: A woman?
Grace: Women can strangle people.
Believe me, I know I could.

Lisbon: Where's Cho and Rigsby?
Grace:  I got a line on Rex Lango finally.
    Changed his name.
Used to be Erzat Lonagul out of Bakersfield.
Cho and Rigsby drove down there to speak to his family.
Nobody could say his name so he changed it to Rex.
Lango's Cousin: He was gonna be a big businessman and he thought that sounded
      rich, Rex Lango.
Cho: Any particular business he was interested in?
Lango's Cousin:  You know, he was good at computers, but he didn't know yet exactly.
         The internet, robots, or whatever.
Cho: Any brushes with the law? Shady friends?
Lango's Cousin:   No. My cousin was a good man.
Lango's Relative: Bah!
Lango's Cousin: He was a good man, and he's gone now, so be nice.
Lango's Relative:  He was a bum.
Lango's Cousin: He was not.
He nearly always had a job and he was never in trouble with the law.
Cho: Is that a bum?
Lango's Cousin: He was never in trouble because he was too sneaky.
Lango's Relative: The kid was stealing candy and quarters before he could walk.
And then he would lie to your face like a rug seller.
He was a dog to the women always.
   A bum.
   Scheming, dishonest, greedy, selfish womanizer.
Lango's Cousin:Yeah, but not a criminal, just a creep.
He left Bakersfield two years ago to avoid a paternity suit.
They had no idea that he was in Sac.
Last they heard, he was in L.A.

Jane: Hmm. That's interesting.

Rigsby: Like I said, a love triangle.
Jane:  But we've got no jealous boyfriend and I can't see Callie dating a sleaze like him.
Lisbon: She logged no calls or texts to him?
Grace: Nope.
I'm waiting for her e-mail records.
I couldn't get them direct from her PC.
   The hard drive is fried.
Jane:  Oh. Well, that's why he was there.
He was in tech support, right?
Grace: So he offers to fix her computer.
Lisbon: How could she refuse?
   - And then what happened?
Grace:  I don't know.
Jane: I gotta run.
Lorelei's on her way up from holding.
Lisbon: Wait.
We still haven't resolved our issue.
I don't think you should be talking to Lorelei.
     You're too close.
Jane: I disagree.
Lisbon: I can put a stop to this right now.
Jane: One word to Bertram
Lisbon:Please don't do that.
Jane: I know I can turn her. I know I can.
And I promise you I will be careful.
   Thank you.

[Scene: 엘리베이터에서 내리는 Lorelei]
Jane: Hello.
Lorelei: Hey.
FBI:  Stand down, men, I'm taking charge of this prisoner.
Jane: What are you talking about?
FBI: This is a judge's warrant.
- Transferring custody of
Jane: No, no, no.
   You can't do that.
FBI: Back off.
Jane:  Don't touch me.
FBI:  Get off.
    Let's go.
Lorelei: Don't let them take me.
    Patrick.
Jane:  You can't just take her.
Lorelei: Patrick.
Lisbon: Patrick!
Buttram: There isn't a choice.
Jane: We have to get her back.
Buttram: Jane, the FBI outfoxed us.
They pretended to give up Lorelei while they were preparing the warrant to take her.
Jane: We should have known they wouldn't fold.
     Just deal with it.
I'd have to strong-arm a judge and the FBI into an arbitration hearing, even then       Well, do it.
Buttram:  The FBI know how to interrogate people.
- They'll do a fine job.
- They will either kill her or she'll escape.
Jane: We will lose our best chance, the best chance we've had of getting Red John.
Buttram: Kill her? Why? The FBI? Don't be ridiculous.
Jane: Red John has a friend high up in the FBI.
Buttram: Oh, please.
Now, how do you know that?
Jane:  He told me.
Buttram: Well, there you go.
Jane: If we don't get her, I'll blow this whole cover-up wide open.
The truth of Wainwright's death, all over the news.
Buttram:  If you do that, this whole deal collapses.
      You go to jail.
Jane:  I don't care.
You call a hearing or I will be very glad to sing like a bird.

[Scene: 공청회 with FBI]
Judge:  Well, I've studied all the documents in this matter, and it is very clear to me all of you people are lying through your teeth.
FBI: Judge.
Judge:  No. I don't want to know.
Whatever sordid errors you are all conspiring to cover up I don't want to know.
The sole purpose of this meeting is to decide who is best equipped to have
     custody of Lorelei Martins.
I will decide in favor of whichever side irritates me the least.
I will tolerate no misbehavior of any kind.
     Proceed with care.
FBI: Your Honor, I would ask you to simply look at the record of Patrick Jane.
    Red John killed his family.
Lorelei Martins is a close confederate of Red John.
How can this man possibly treat her with the clarity and the objectivity required?
   He's not a trained professional, he's a vigilante.
That alone should disqualify the CBI from custody in this matter.
For many years I have been pursuing Red John.
I know this case better than anybody else.
These people, they don't know how to make Lorelei Martins talk.
Jane: I do.
FBI: If I may interject Miss Martins tells us that she has had sexual relations with
    Mr.Jane.
That may be the source of his confidence.
Judge:  That so?
Jane: Yes, it is.
     We have a relationship.
Judge: Uh, that's a good thing.
   That's how you turn people.
FBI: I'd expected a denial, to be honest.
   Do we need to continue?
Judge: Um, that does tend to disqualify you, Mr.Jane.
Jane:  So, um, if you have nothing further She's already given me valuable information.
    Let's not stop now.
Judge:  Valuable information like what?
All due respect, this is not the time or the place to share the details.
If you want to see Lorelei Martins again, this is both the time and the place.
Jane: She told me that all Red John's friends have a secret sign they use to identify
   each other.
Judge: And what is it?
    Go on.
Jane:They carry a glass bead in their pocket, blood red, the size of a pea.
    Lorelei showed me hers.
FBI: That's it? Unprovable trivia.
Jane: It proves she trusts me.
FB(Mehaini):  It proves nothing.
Can we stop this farce now?
It is a bit thin, Mr.Jane.
Jane: Is that all you have?
FB(Mehaini):   No.Not at all.
Jane:  Well? Red John has an accomplice inside the FBI.
FB(Mehaini): Come on.
Judge, this man is just spinning fantasies now.
Judge: Yes, you would say that.
Jane:  I saw you.
FBI(Mancini): What do you mean by that?
Jane:  When I mentioned the glass bead, you suddenly looked very guilty and you
glanced at your right-hand jacket pocket.
Judge:  What's in there, Mancini?
FBI(Mancini): This is the same thing you did to Norris.
Jane:  What?
FBI(Mancini): Son of a bitch.
Judge:  Agent. What's in your pocket, Mancini?
FBI(Mancini): There's nothing This is a childish trick, Your Honor.
This man has just planted a bead on me.
Jane:   Uh, let's be clear. I have not touched you.
Everybody in this room has seen that.
But you're saying that there is in fact a red glass bead in your pocket?
     Is that what you're saying?
FBI(Mancini): No.
You're putting words in my mouth.
Judge: Show us what's in your pockets, agent.
FBI(Mancini): You don't understand.
Judge: Show us.
FBI(Mancini):He planted it.
     He planted it.
Judge: But he didn't touch you, did he?
FBI(Mancini): You son of a bitch!
FBI(Boss): Mancini.
FBI(Mancini): Come here! Get over here!
FBI(Boss): Order!
Judge: Agent Schultz, this is a disgrace.

Lisbon: Well done.
- Good job.
Jane: When do we get her back?
Buttram:Judge says we can pick her up at county jail tomorrow.
Rigsby:  Did, uh, Mancini really throw a bottle at you?
Jane:Yes, he did.
And then he proceeded to chase me through the statehouse.
    But failed to catch me.
Lisbon:  Congratulations.
    Another mortal enemy made.
Jane: You should be very proud.
Meanwhile, we've got a case to solve.
Well, let's get busy then, boss.
So let's just assume that Rex was at Callie's apartment to fix her computer.
What happened next? How does that escalate to a double murder?
Maybe the computer's key, there's something on the hard drive.
    She cleans hotels.
   What could be important?
How does that connect to her lipstick on his cheek?
He couldn't fix her computer so they made out instead? Well, there are other
   reasons for kissing someone.
   Celebration, for instance.
   Hence the champagne.
  What would they be celebrating?
Maybe "Thanks for trying to fix my computer"?
So who's the third person here?
    What are we missing? Ugh.
Grace: Sorry I'm late.
They're setting up a stage for the state lottery prize presentation at the Capitol.
Traffic on L Street was crazy.
Jane:  Ugh, the lottery.
Grace: They should do that at Raley Field or someplace where they have parking.
When did Forensics say they'd be done with Callie's drive?
 - End of the week.
Jane:  Ha!
Lisbon:   What?
Jane:   Callie's sister Nicola.   You have her phone number?

[Scene:  the state lottery prize presentation]
MC: Ladies and gentlemen, friends it is my very great pleasure to introduce to you
at this time the lucky winner of this year's biggest lottery jackpot!
Please welcome to the stage a young woman who is now worth Come on out here,
   Valerie.
   There you go, Valerie.
    Congratulations.
Valerie: Thank you.
Thank you so, so, so much.
    I'm so blessed.
    Thank you.
MC: Valerie, how are you feeling?
Valerie: Ha, ha.  I'm just in shock.  It's like a movie.
MC:  Any plans for the money?
Valerie:  Not yet.
Lisbon:   What?
Jane:  I'm gonna take a flyer, do you know a Tom Yannick of the Sacramento Police?
Valerie: No.
Jane:  You sure?
Valerie:  Because I'm pretty sure.
Jane:  Who else would've had the opportunity?
   A random intruder? Unlikely.
Tom Yannick, he's not your boyfriend, then?
Valerie: Uh-uh.
Jane:  Okay, just a moment.
Valerie, this is Nicola Karlsen, she's Callie Karlsen's sister.
The woman brutally murdered for the ticket that won that check you're holding.
Would you tell her you don't know Tom Yannick?
    Aha.
Valerie You told me nothing would go wrong!
Yannick: Shh! No.
Jane: Stop, stop. Thomas Yannick, you're under arrest for murder.
Yes. This doesn't belong to you.
We're gonna have to get the name changed.
Do you have a marker? A pen?
Callie was checking the lottery numbers while Rex tried to fix her computer.
   She won 56 million dollars.
She kissed Rex, got the champagne out of the fridge, and she called her sister.
Then greed got the better of Rex.
He tried to strangle Callie so he could steal the ticket but she killed him instead
with the champagne bottle and called 911.
Then, half-strangled and in shock, she fainted.
And that's where you come in.
You found the two of them.
You saw the ticket and bottle.
   Put two and two together.
   Quite the detective.
   So you killed Callie.
You think about it for a while or you just go for it?
I thought about it for a while.
   I felt bad for her.
Yannick:   But 56 million dollars, man.
Jane:  Yeah. You should have thought about it a while longer.
Niccola: Thank you, thank you, thank you.
You are such a good man.
     Thank you.
Lisbon: Sorry to interrupt, Nicola, but Jane and I have to pick up a prisoner.
Niccola:  Thank you.
Lisbon:  Pleasure.

Lisbon: Come on.
   What is taking so long?
   Relax, she'll be here.
Jane: Look, I'm sorry, by the way.
Lisbon: For what?
There's a long list of possibilities.
Jane: Yeah, well, this is sort of a general-purpose apology.
Use it for your top issue.

[Scene In Jail]
Lisbon:  Thanks.
Prison Officer: Here you go.
Lisbon:   Who's this?
Prison Officer:  5467B.
Lisbon:  That's not her.
    There's been a mistake.
Prison Officer: No mistake.
Her paperwork is all in order.
It's the only Lorelei Martins we got.

Police: Yes, ma'am. We're just gonna keep you right back here.

Lisbon:  Captain.
Captain:  Agent Lisbon. Don't think we'll be needing you guys.
We like the neighbor kid who found the body.
Lisbon: Did he confess?
Captain:  Eh, he's a real squirrel. Hard to say

Reporters: Did you kill her? ..- Did you kill her?

Reporter: Mercy's father would like to give a brief statement.

Mercy's father: I just wanna take a moment and thank everyone in law enforcement
and all the volunteers who helped us in the search for our beloved daughter.
The way that this entire community has come together to support me and Juniper
in this terrible time has been of great comfort to us.
And now I would just like to ask that you give us some time, space and privacy
     to grieve for our daughter.
     Thank you.

[Scene: In Dinning Room of Mercy's House]
Jane:  Hello, Mrs. Tolliver.
Mrs. Tolliver: Who are you?
Jane:  My name's Patrick Jane. I'm here to help you.
Would you like a cup of tea?
Mrs. Tolliver:  Yes, I would. Thank you.
Jane: You must be tired. Why don't you sit down? It's nice and quiet in here, isn't it?
    Quiet, soothing, calm.
Mrs. Tolliver:  Calm.
Jane: I've been watching you and your husband and I want you to know that I understand what you're feeling right now.
Mrs. Tolliver: You have no idea.
Jane: Believe me.
Mrs. Tolliver: I do. I know.
Jane: I know, and I wanna help you.
Mrs. Tolliver: You can't help me. What do you know?
Jane: All sorts of things. You really only pretend to like skiing, right?
Yes, but You're pleased that your best friend recently gained some weight.
     About 10 pounds.
You wish you'd been more adventurous when you were younger.
You love India, but you've never been there.
     You have trouble sleeping.
     Your favorite color is blue.
Mrs. Tolliver: I don't understand. You're? - You're psychic?
Jane:  Ha, no. Just paying attention.
I used to make a good living pretending to be a psychic.
I tell you this because I want you to understand there's no point hiding things
     from me.
Mrs. Tolliver: Hiding what?
Jane:  You know what I see when I look at your husband? I see
a warm, loving, generous man.   A little vain, maybe. Selfish. Controlling.
     But a decent man.
Mrs. Tolliver: Yes.
Jane:  So why do you suspect him of murdering your daughter?
Mrs. Tolliver:  I don't. The McCluskey boy did it.
Jane:  Yes, that's what the police say. But you think they're wrong.
     Why?
Mrs. Tolliver:   I don't know. I don't know. I Tell me.
The last year, they have been so strange with each other.
And neither one would admit that anything was wrong.
And I think that I think that she tried to tell me once, and I didn't I God.
     Oh, God.
Jane: Did you ask him if he killed her? What would he say? Most wives can tell when
     their husbands are lying.
Mrs. Tolliver: Yes.
Jane: Yes.
Mrs. Tolliver: L I don't want Uh The McCluskey boy did it.
Jane: Maybe.
Mrs. Tolliver: You think he did it too?
Jane: I trust a mother's instinct.

Mercy's father:  June? There you are.
Jane:  Hi.
Mercy's father:  Who are you?
Jane:  I'm the police. Did you kill your daughter?
Mercy's father: How dare you?
Jane: I asked you a simple question, sir. Did you kill your daughter?
Mercy's father: No. I did not kill my daughter.
Jane:  Oh.
Mercy's father: Now, you get the hell out of my house.
June? June, what's the matter with you?
     I'm gonna have your badge.
Jane: An innocent man would've punched me by now.
Mercy's father:  I am gonna make life miserable for you.
You come in here, you accost my wife.
    You cause trouble, uh June.
    June, honey, please

[Scene: Outside --> Inside]
Lisbon: Shots fired. Inside.
Police: Move, move! Hey.
Jane:  Honestly, it's not as bad as it looks.
Lisbon: Mrs.Tolliver? Mrs.Tolliver? Please wait.

Police: Front room's clear.

2 Weeks Later -----------------------------------

[Scene: Palm Spring / Jeep Car]
Golfer: Then the son of a bitch eagles 17.  Are you kidding me? On that course?
     A damn eagle?
Golfer's Bro: That course never suited you, Price. We'll do better in Orlando.
We have a nice spot on the draw.
Golfer: Well, I'll tell you what. Davis Love III can kiss my butt.

[Scene: Alison's house]
Golfer: Alison? Alison?

[Scene: Palm Springs. Airport]

Airport Broadcast: Flight 233 from Sacramento you may claim your baggage
     from Carousel 2.
     Flight 233 from Sacramento

Van Pelt: Uh, sorry.
Lisbon: You checked luggage? What are you, on vacation?
Van Pelt:  No, ma'am. Won't do it again.
Lisbon: When your trousseau arrives pick up the second rental and go to the
    sheriff's department.
Hustle us up a couple of rooms, furniture and phone lines.
Van Pelt:  Yes, ma'am.
Lisbon:  Come on, let's go.
Jane: Morning, everybody.   How was your flight?
Lisbon:  Go away. You're on suspension.
Jane: Thank you.  Mandated leave. Ends next week.
Lisbon:  So come back next week.
Jane: Hot enough for you?
Lisbon:   Which one of you jackasses told him?   It was you, wasn't it, Cho?
Cho: Yes.
Jane: Of course he called me. It's Red John. Can't keep me out of this.
Lisbon: Why would you want to? You got a man killed.
Jane: There's consequences.
A man that murdered his daughter because she wouldn't have sex with him?
Lisbon:  You did not know that. If she hadn't left the diary
Jane: But she did, though. Be reasonable. This is my case.
Lisbon: Your case?
Jane:  Red John's mine.
Lisbon: Red John doesn't belong to anyone.
Jane: He belongs to me.
Lisbon: It's not my call. Rules are rules. Come back next week.
     Don't let this man past.
Cho: Boss.

[Scene: medical examiner's office]
Coroner: We have Gregory Tannen, Caucasian, male, 43, single.
We haven't opened him up yet, but Sorry I went over your head.
Jane:  I'll redeem myself, I promise.
Lisbon:You want redemption, be silent.
Jane:  Okay, I can learn to do that.
Lisbon: Shh.
Jane: Sorry.
Coroner: Burn marks here indicate that the victim was subdued with a stun gun
standard civilian model, by the look of it.
Death appears to be caused by several blows to the back of the skull consistent with
the bloody golf club found at the scene.
Coroner:  Female is Alison Randolph, They were found at her listed residence.
TOD looks to be early Saturday evening.
On Alison, we have stun-gun marks followed by binding with tight, black,
plastic ligatures frenzied cutting and stabbing assault of the torso, and abuse of
     the viscera.
Jane:  Textbook Red John.
Lisbon: Who found the bodies?
Cho: This one's husband, coming home from the airport with his brother.
Cho:  He's a pro golfer.
Rigsby:   Oh, yeah? Price Randolph?  What's her deal with him?
Jane:   Do we know?
Cho: He's on file as one of her physicians.
Lisbon: Making a house call?  Lovers?
Jane: No. This one's gay.
Coroner:  Dr.Wagner might know what their relationship was.
He's here to make the formal ID.
Jane: Okay.

[Hospital]
Lisbon: Dr.Wagner. Hi.  I'm Agent Teresa Lisbon, California Bureau of Investigation.
What's your connection to the victims?
Dr.Wagner:  Well, I work with Gregory. Dr.Tannen and the Randolph family are
     long-time clients of our practice.
Lisbon:  Are house calls the norm at your practice?
Dr.Wagner: No. Gregory and Alison were close friends.
Lisbon:  Lovers?
Dr.Wagner: No.
Jane: He was gay.
Dr.Wagner: No, they were just friends.
What in God's name happened to them?
Rigsby: Looks like Red John.
Dr.Wagner:  Who's Red John?
Jane: We don't know who did this.
Lisbon:  We'll be in touch probably. Thank you.

[Scene:방송차량]
Roporter's:  Tracy wanna set up?
     Here? Yeah, that's good.

[Alison's house]
Profiler:  Red John enters here. Excuse me.
Rigsby: Sorry.
Profiler:  He comes around here.
He waits for her, expecting her to come in alone.
Only thing, her friend Tannen chose the wrong night to come over for a
     Richard Gere and ice-cream orgy.
So Red John zaps them both with his trusty stun gun and Excuse me.
Grabs a five iron from the bag here and Ugh! Crushes Tannen's skull.
Then he takes his sweet time dealing with Alison how he likes.
She's a nice big girl so unless he's pretty strong, I'm guessing that he grabbed her
by the arms and dragged her down the hall.

A Flashback : Five Years Earlier ------------------------

[Scene: Studio in Broadcast Station 5 Year's Earlier]
Jane:  He says he's sorry for all the pain he's caused you and your mother.
     Deeply sorry.
He asks you to forgive him.
     Can you do that Jenny?
     He needs to hear it.
Jenny: I forgive you, Daddy.
Jane: Oh, yes.
Jenny: I forgive you.
Jane:  He's smiling now. There are tears of joy.
He says, "God bless you and keep you."
     He's gone.

Woman MC:  Amazing, amazing. Amazing.
MC:   She's amazed.
MC:  Patrick
Jane:  One second.
Woman MC:  Give him some time.
MC: Abso Come on back to us.
Jane:  I'm back. Thank you.
Woman MC:  He's back.  Ha-ha-ha.
MC:  So, Patrick, I understand that you're also sort of a paranormal detective.
     Is that right?
Jane:  I try to help the police when I can.
Woman MC: And you're helping them hunt this scary serial killer.
     What's his name?
Jane:  Red John.
Woman MC:  Red John.

[Alison's house]
Profiler: There she blows.
     Classic Red John smiley face.
Drawn in the victims' blood, clockwise, with three fingers of his right hand wearing
     a rubber kitchen glove.
I'm stoked to finally see one in the flesh.
Jane:   This isn't Red John.
Profiler: Right.
Jane:   Red John thinks of himself as a showman, an artist.
He has a strong sense of theater.
In the previous killings he made sure that the first thing that anyone sees is ㅋ
     the face on the wall.
You see the face first, and you know.
You know what's happened, and you feel dread.
Then, and only then, do you see the body of the victim.
     Always in that order.
     Here, it's the opposite.
The first thing you see is the body and you have to look around to see
    the face on the wall.
Doesn't play nearly as well, does it?
Lisbon: Depends on your taste, I suppose.
Jane:   No. Come on. The killer could've painted on the correct wall here, but he didn't
because he didn't know better, because he isn't Red John.
Profiler: Wow. That's interesting.
Jane: You know what your problem is, my friend? You enjoy your work a little too much.
    You're a ghoul.
Profiler: If you don't get horny reading Fangoria, I'm Britney Spears.L I resent that.
Lisbon: This is you trying to redeem yourself, is it?
Jane:  I'm sorry. He irks me. He's irksome. You don't need me here.

[Scene: CBI Office]
Lisbon: So, yeah, this one doesn't fit the pattern.
     So Jane was right.
Cho: We have a copycat.
Lisbon: Or we have Red John trying new things.
Or we have Red John making a mistake.
    We don't know.
We'll work the evidence until we do know.
    Go talk to the husband.
Rigsby: Will do, boss.
Lisbon: What are you waiting for?
     Hey.
So you might be right about this case.
    Might be.
    Thanks for the insight.
    No.
Did I say that? I'm acknowledging the fact that you might be right, that's all.
I mean, if you wanted to come back, I couldn't stop you.
    Yeah, fine.
I'm asking you to come back.
Because. Because you're useful to the team.
No. No, I won't say "please." Go screw yourself.
    Jackass.
Jane: Good morning.
Van Pelt: Can I help you?
Jane:You must be Van Pelt.
Van Pelt: Pleasure.
Jane:Patrick Jane.
Van Pelt: Oh, hi. Good to meet you. Agent Cho said you'd left town.
Jane: No. Nowhere to go.

Van Pelt: Okay.Um. Do you want that desk over there, or this one?
I mean, that one gets more light.
Jane: That one. More light, by all means.
Very pleasant addition to the Serious Crimes family.

Lisbon: Oh. Hi. When did you get here?

[Scene: In Video, Alice's House]
Alice: Stop. I give up. Aah! Stop. Stop. Turn off the camera. Tag.
Come on, come on, come on.
     - Okay, we're done.
     We're done.
   - Stop.
     Good, good.
     You are awful.
     - Go, go, go.
     - Stop, please.
     Stop.
Golfer: I lost a beautiful, precious angel.
Rigsby: Yes, sir.
Cho: Good-Iooking woman.

[Alice's House]
Cho: I'm jumping right in, if you don't mind, Price.
Cho: You missed the tournament cut on Friday, yes?
But you didn't come home until Sunday. What'd you do with the rest of your time?
Golfer: I get this. You guys can't catch the real killer so you wanna lay this one on me?
Rigsby: No, sir. If we have confirmation of where you were, lets us exclude you from
   the investigation.
Golfer: I was with a massage therapist.
Rigsby: Name?
Golfer: - Uh, it had "lady" in there somewhere.
Bro: It'll be on his credit-card bill.
Golfer: There you go. Pleasure meeting you, boys.

[Scene: Hospital-Dr.Wagner's Office]
Dr.Wagner: We're a full-service private practice.
We deliver primary care, uh, cosmetic surgery psychotherapy, sports medicine,
     you name it.
Jane: What's the African connection? It's what this place is all about.
Dr.Wagner: Half our profits go to build and staff basic health clinics in poor African
    communities.
    All right, here we are.
Lisbon:  It's a thin file.
Dr.Wagner: Alison was a healthy young woman.
Lisbon: Psychiatric history?
Dr.Wagner: She didn't have one.
Lisbon: STDs? Abortions? Unexplained injuries?
Dr.Wagner: No. Aside from some routine checkups with me, it's all Dr.Tannen, all
   aesthetic work.
Jane: Did Tannen keep a diary?
Our last case was solved because the victim kept a diary.
Dr.Wagner: Diary? I don't think so.
Lisbon: Getting back to Alison Randolph. How was her marriage, do you think?
     Happy? Unhappy?
Dr.Wagner: About six months ago, Dr.Tannen asked my advice.
Alison asked him to get her a year's supply of birth-control pills, off the books
which is strictly against AMA code.
     I said, "Sure, do it."
Better us than some Tijuana drugstore.
Lisbon: Why the secrecy?
Dr.Wagner: Price Randolph had a vasectomy, April of '02.

[Scene:Ally in Hospital]
Dr.Wagner: If there's anything else I can do   I appreciate that.
Jane: Actually, there is. Uh, I'm out of sleeping pills.
Can you fix me up? Anything strong will do.
Dr.Wagner: Sure. Come in for a consultation.
Lisbon:  We'll squeeze you in this afternoon.
Jane: Oh, no, I was hoping to get something now.
Dr.Wagner: Trying to avoid the chitchat.
     I'm sorry.
I wouldn't feel comfortable prescribing without some sort of chitchat.
Jane: I understand. Uh, no problem. I'll call you. Maybe.

[Scene: In Restraunt]
Cho: I like the husband for it. He hires some hooker to create an alibi, flies home,
    fillets the spouse, flies back.
Rigsby: It's a classic, elaborate and clever, but ultimately stupid plan.
Cho:  Have you looked at his PGA tournament record? It's not bad. Six mil career
       earnings.
For coming in second and third.
Put him on the 18th tee with a big one on the line like night follows day, he'll
     shank it.
Jane:  He's a choker. He doesn't have the nerve to kill his wife. Didn't do it.
Cho:   Are you suggesting we drop a prime suspect because he's never won a major?
Jane:  Oh, no, no, no. I'm just making idle conversation.
Van Pelt:  How'd you do that?
Jane: Telekinesis.
Cho:   He blew on it.
Jane: That is another way to do it.
Van Pelt: Mr.Jane, I have a question regarding your previous career path.
     Fire away.
When you met with other psychics, real psychics could they tell you were just
pretending? There's no such thing as real psychics.
     I beg to differ.
     My cousin Yolanda's a psychic.
Jane: Your cousin is deluded or dishonest, or both.
Rigsby:  Hey, steady.
Van Pelt: No. He's entitled to his opinion. He's wrong, though. She has power.
Rigsby: Thank you.
Van Pelt: She can communicate with the other side. I've seen her do it myself.
Jane: She let you speak with someone that's gone?
Van Pelt:  Yes.
Jane: Someone you love and still miss very much?
Van Pelt:  Yes.
Jane:You wanted her power to be real, so it was.
Van Pelt: No. You're sure you're right. Science don't know everything.
Five hundred years ago, radio would've seemed like magic.
Jane:  Exactly. In the future, it could be totally normal to communicate with
    the other side.
Van Pelt: The other side? Mm-hm.
Jane: Your father's a football coach, yeah?
Van Pelt:  How'd you know that?
Jane: It's obvious from your whole demeanor.
My point is, didn't Dad always say life is like football?
When that final whistle blows, the game is over.
Van Pelt:   Done. There is no more. There is no other side.
Jane: This is it.
Lobster and bread rolls and nautical kitsch, and then pfft, nothingness.
Van Pelt: You poor, sad man.
The Kingdom of God is a real place.
Jane: Okay, later tonight, when Rigsby asks you to come back to his hotel room say yes.
Van Pelt: Excuse me?
Jane: I know, you were planning on refusing him very curtly.
First week on the job, you wanna set a tone, no monkey business.
But why not? Rigsby's an excellent lover, I'm sure.
     Tough, but fair.
     Right? Right.
Van Pelt: The Kingdom of God is a real place, Mr. Jane.
And you have an immortal soul.
Jane: Oh, I do so hope you're wrong.
Cho:   Good night.
Rigsby: Night.
Rigsby: Later, dude. This is me.
Welcome to the unit, Agent Van Pelt.
Van Pelt: Thank you, Agent Rigsby.

[Scene: TV Narration-Jane is watching TV]
Narration: She explodes into action.
Reaching up to 60 miles per hour she easily outruns her terrified prey.

[Scene : Mail from Red John - Van Pelt read mail]
Van Pelt:  "Greetings, old friend.
It's been a while. I hope you are keeping well.
     I am thriving and happy.
I have 12 wives now and will soon begin courting Number 13.
Why can't you catch me? You must feel so powerless and stupid and sad.
   Oh, well.
  All the best.
  Red John."

Van Pelt: That sounds like the real deal to me.
Cho: Sounds like Red John.
Jane: It's not. Red John wouldn't risk capture just to taunt me.
So the real killer's trying to throw us off track?
Lisbon:  Cho, find out where Price Randolph was a half an hour ago.
Rigsby, check the hotel security cameras.
   Get those over to Forensics.
- You okay?
Jane: Absolutely.
Lisbon: Get some sleep.

[Scene: CBI Office]
Van Pelt: Hello.
Jane:  Good morning.
Lisbon: You didn't sleep, did you?
Hi.I'd like to make an appointment with Dr.Wagner, please.
     It's urgent. Jane. Patrick Jane.
     Yeah, I'll hold.
Rigsby:  Forensics maybe got a break.
Blood on the cloth in the envelope is Alison Randolph's.
But they found a hair in there, doesn't belong to her or Tannen.

[Scene:fishbowl]
Cho:  Guess who it does belong to.
    It's yours, Tag.
    Amazing, huh? Science.
Tag: This is insane. I didn't I didn't kill Alison.
Cho:  How do you explain your hair?
Tag: Either it was a mistake, or I'm being framed.
Cho: Who would wanna frame you? We don't want to, if that's what you're thinking.

[Scene:Outside of fishbowl]
Jane: He and Alison were lovers.

[Scene:fishbowl]
Cho: Who would wanna frame you, Tag?
Tag: My brother.
Cho: Why would he wanna do that?
Tag:Alison and I were lovers.

[Scene:Outside of fishbowl]
Van Pelt: I think you are psychic.

[Scene:In hospital of Dr.Wagner]
Dr.Wagner: You're just afraid to admit it.
Jane: Mm-hm. So So, heh.
Dr.Wagner: Why is it you can't sleep?
Jane: Because I can't get the good pills without talking to a doctor.
Dr.Wagner:And you don't like talking to doctors.
Jane:  Eh. They always wanna be the smartest person in the room, don't they?
When, in fact, that's me, obviously.
Dr.Wagner: You protect your core self very fiercely.
Jane:  What do you think is the reason for that? You know, this is exactly how I imagined it would be.
You gonna ask me about my mother?
Dr.Wagner: Do you want me to ask about your mother?
Jane:   I just wanna sleep.
Dr.Wagner:  So, what is it that keeps you awake?

[Scene: a Flashback/Broadcasting Studio]
MC: Oh, what's his name? Red John? That's right, Red John.
Jane:  Uh, he's killed at least eight women that we know of.
Uh, the police asked me to get a psychic fix on him to get a sense of who
     this man is.
MC: How do you do that exactly?
Jane: Get a psychic fix on someone. Well, Davis, true demonic evil burns like fire.
It burns with a terrible, cold, dark flame.
I force myself to look into that flame and I see an image of the evildoer.
     In this case, Red John.
He's an ugly, tormented little man.
     A Ionely soul.
     Sad. Very sad.

[Scene: In Mail On the Room Door]
Red John:  "Dear Mr. Jane.   I do not like to be slandered in the media especially
by a dirty, money grubbing fraud.
If you were a real psychic instead of a dishonest little worm, you wouldn't
need to open the door to see what I've done to your lovely wife and child."

[Scene: Dr.Wagner's Room In the Hospital]
Dr.Wagner: Mr. Jane. Mr.Jane?
What is it that keeps you awake?
Jane: Um You know, when I was a boy, we had a farm.
There was a lot of work.  I was kind of a lazy kid.
Dr.Wagner: Yes?
Jane:  I'd always be trying to get my little brother, Jimmy, to do my chores for me.
One day, I promised him a dollar if he'd cut the firewood.
Dr.Wagner: Heh.
Jane:  Well he opened up an artery in his leg on the saw, and he bled to death.
Died doing my chores for me.
Dr.Wagner:  You know that's almost exactly the same thing that happened
    to Johnny Cash.
Jane:  Is it really? Wow. That's spooky.

[Scene: CBI Office]
Rigsby: Mr. Randolph
Golfer:  Cut the crap. My brother's done nothing.
You haven't got the stones to come after me so you come after my family.
Cho:  That is flat-out persecution.
Golfer: What did we agree?
Cho:  Mr.Randolph, there's no intent to persecute you.
We are holding your brother because we have evidence linking him to the crime,
     and potential motive.
Whenever you weren't around, he was banging your wife like a big bass drum.
Golfer: Tag and Alison? That's what he states.
Cho:  He states that you killed Alison.
Golfer:  You're trying to frame him in revenge.
What did you say? What? There Bastard.
Rigsby:  Hey.
Golfer: You Ow! Agh! - Son of a bitch.
Tag: You treated her like crap.
Golfer:  What'd you expect? I didn't expect my little brother to be banging my wife,
you bastard! Everything you told me is total fiction, isn't it?

[Scene: Dr.Wagner's Room In the Hospital]
Jane: Yes.
Dr.Wagner: Why? I can tell you're in real pain.  Why not tell the truth?
Jane:  The truth is mine.
Dr.Wagner:  I hear you.
Jane:  Thank you.

[Scene: corridor in hospital]
Dr.Wagner: Oh, yes.
Jane:  Remember, uh, we were talking about Tannen the other day?
I asked you if he kept a diary, and you said he did.
Dr.Wagner: Well, there's no diary among his effects.
     - No.
Jane:  I'm sorry, no? No.
    You have it wrong.
Dr.Wagner: I didn't think he kept a diary.
Jane:  Strange. Then it must've been someone else who told me.
Either that, or I'm going mad.
But I definitely, 100 percent, remember hearing that Tannen kept a diary.
Dr.Wagner: Well, that is strange. But why does it matter if he kept a diary?
Jane:  You're right, doesn't matter.
Only, I was thinking, why do magicians have beautiful girl assistants?
Dr.Wagner:  Why?
Jane:   They're reliable distractors of attention.
People will look at a beautiful girl for a long time before they look where they
should be looking if they wanna see how the trick really works.
I'll send over a couple of Forensics guys tomorrow to search his office and
     locate that diary.
Dr.Wagner: Didn't they already search his office? Oh, they never do it thoroughly
     the first time.
Jane:  Once more for luck, yeah? Gotta be there somewhere.
    Thanks for everything, doc.
    Good night.
Dr.Wagner: Good night.

[Scene : Dr. Tannen's Office]
Jane: Lost something?
Dr.Wagner:  How did you get in?
Jane:  Door was open.  I think I left my phone in your office.
Dr.Wagner:  The door wasn't open.
Jane:  Must've been. Here I am.
    What are you doing?
Dr.Wagner:  I confess, the temptation to play detective was a little too strong.
I was looking for that diary.
   - I got a little carried away.
   - No kidding.
Jane:  But no diary?
Dr.Wagner:  No diary.
Jane:  Maybe I should have a gander. I'm good at finding things.
     Be my guest.
     Eureka.
     Dr.Wagner, thanks for your help.
Dr.Wagner: Mr. Jane uh, your phone.
Jane: Right.
Dr.Wagner: Ha.
Jane:  Thanks. Yeah, got it.  Silly of me.
     Well, goodbye again.
Dr.Wagner: Wait. Give me the diary.
Jane: That's very amusing.  I try.
Dr.Wagner: I knew I knew it might be a trick, but I - I had to be sure.
Jane:  Yes.
Dr.Wagner: That's how the trick works.
     What led you to me?
Not that I'm saying I did it.
    I'm just asking.
Jane:  When we first met, you said you didn't know who Red John was.
But you have books on criminal psychiatry there that have chapters on him.
You're the Randolph family doctor so you could easily get a strand of Tag's hair.
And, being a doctor you can hack up another human without difficulty.
    It's obvious it was you.
Dr.Wagner: That's it? You have nothing.
Jane:   That's just guesswork.
Oh, I know. I just wanted to be sure I had the right answer.
I was surprised, I gotta be honest.
You don't seem to be a wicked man.
Dr.Wagner:  But you are. You're angry about the letter.
Yeah, it was a bit mean-spirited.
For the record, I'm sorry about your family.
I can only imagine your pain.
But I'm not a wicked man.  My conscience is clear.
Jane:  Really?
Dr.Wagner:  Right now in Africa, there's 3000 beautiful children alive today
who should be dead, but they aren't, because of me.
Tannen was gonna ruin me and destroy all that work over nothing.
Money. Theft, he called it. Embezzlement.
     Self-righteous idiot. It's simple math.
If I go to jail, thousands of kids will die.
So I made a rational, moral decision to kill Tannen for the greater good.
Jane:   And Alison? What'd she do wrong? Mm.
Dr.Wagner:  As we said, she was the magician's assistant, just a distraction.
Jane:   Ah.
Dr.Wagner:  If only Tannen died the police would've been all over this place,
wouldn't they? Truly, is killing two any worse than killing one when so many lives
   are at stake?
Jane: I don't think so. You poor, sad man.  You're under arrest. Let's go.
Dr.Wagner:  I'm pointing a gun at you.
Jane: You really think I would set you up so nicely and let you pull a loaded gun
on me? I took the bullets out earlier.

[Scene : Gate]
Jane:  (to Rigsby) You're late.
    Draw your weapon.
Rigsby:  What? Huh? Drop the gun. Hands on your head.
    Get down on your knees.
     Down.

[Scene: CBI Office]
Jane:  Closed-case doughnuts are here.
I just went to get sleeping pills, I swear.
     I didn't even wanna go.
You know I didn't wanna go.
Cho: Right.
Rigsby:  Yeah, you didn't set Wagner up.
Didn't figure it was him days ago.
Cho: You didn't let us tear apart the victim's family to satisfy your childish need
     for drama.
Jane: Hey, that family was screwed anyway.
    Don't blame yourselves, guys.
    Don't even start.
Lisbon:I'm still angry.
Jane: I'm sorry.
Lisbon: No, you're not.
A frog? Well, this makes everything better, doesn't it?
